Gameday: EKU Winds Down Road Trip at SIUE

EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. – The Eastern Kentucky University men’s basketball team concludes its Illinois road trip with a visit to SIUE Saturday night. Tip time is set for 8 p.m. ET.

Eastern Kentucky (13-11, 6-5 OVC) moved into fifth place in the Ohio Valley Conference standings with its win Thursday at Eastern Illinois. All six of Eastern’s OVC wins have been extremely close. The average margin of victory has been 4.8 points, which is right in line with the Colonels’ 47-43 win over EIU. EKU’s largest margin of victory (eight points) came in a double-overtime win over UT Martin.

SIUE (6-14, 4-7) picked up a 61-53 win over Morehead State Thursday. The Cougars, who are playing their first full conference schedule this year, are 3-3 in OVC home games including a victory over Tennessee Tech. Forward Mark Yelovich is the team’s leading scorer (13.9 ppg) and rebounder (6.3 rpg). He paced SIUE with 20 points and five boards versus Morehead State.

The Colonels first squared off against SIUE last year and won both games. Senior Joshua Jones averaged 10.5 ppg in those two contests while shooting 80 percent (8-of-10) from the field.
