RICHMOND, Ky. – The Eastern Kentucky University men’s basketball team shot a sizzling 53 percent from three-point range Tuesday night as the Colonels defeated visiting Mid-Continent, 59-41, in McBrayer Arena.
EKU (14-12) led by only eight at halftime, but used a 10-0 spurt to open the second half as freshman
Eric Stutz knocked down just his second triple of the season to give the Colonels a comfortable 33-15 lead with 15:54 on the clock. Eastern Kentucky led by double digits the rest of the way.
EKU’s 53 percent (9-of-17) shooting from deep marked the Colonels’ second-best three-point shooting effort of the season, as they shot 64 percent (16-of-25) from downtown against Brescia on Dec. 3.
Senior
Joshua Jones surpassed 1,100 career points thanks to finishing with a game-high 15 points and four steals. Stutz contributed 11 points and a team-best seven boards.
Mid-Continent (6-17) was paced by Charles Peden’s 12 points. Chris Ferguson, meanwhile, nearly recorded a double-double with nine points and eight rebounds.

Jeff Allgood with just under two minutes on the clock gave the Colonels their largest lead of the half, 23-11.
Eastern Kentucky returns to action on Saturday, Feb. 11, when the Colonels host Ohio Valley Conference rival Morehead State at 7 p.m.
