RICHMOND, Ky. – Members of the Eastern Kentucky University women's basketball team lent a hand at the Tracks for Packs 5K Run/Walk on Saturday at the Richmond Centre.
The Tracks for Packs initiative benefits the Madison County Backpack Program, which provides more than 1,300 backpacks full of food that go home with children over the weekend to provide nourishment that is needed when those children are not in school.
The EKU student-athletes helped set up and break down the event and also passed out water to the nearly 350 runners who competed in the race.
"I really enjoyed helping others and cheering them on as they finished the race," sophomore
Shelly Harper said. "It was a great experience to be a part of something so positive."
