EKU Won Program-Record 25th Game with 72-58 Upset Over Utah in First Round

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The Eastern Kentucky University women's basketball team continues its run in the 2026 Women's Basketball Invitational Tournament (WBIT) on Sunday afternoon against No. 4 seed Harvard inside Lavietes Pavilion.

Sunday's game is scheduled to tip off at 2 p.m. ET. Fans can watch the game live on ESPN+ with Joel Godett (play-by-play), Amanda Keane (analyst), and Jess Todd (sideline) on the call. The game will also stream for free on Colonels All-Access and the @EKUWBB account on X.

EKU (25-8, 15-3 ASUN) set a program record with 25 victories following its 72-58 upset of Big 12 opponent and No. 1 seed Utah in the WBIT first round on Thursday.

With the win, the Colonels earned their first national postseason victory in 24 years and their first win in an NCAA-sponsored postseason event in program history.

Senior forward Joseana Vaz, EKU's leading scorer this season, paced the Colonels with 24 points against Utah. The performance tied the second-highest single-game scoring total of her career.

Freshman Kenleigh Woods added 16 points on 7-of-10 shooting, marking her 16th double-figure scoring game of the season, while also dishing out a game-high five assists.

Sophomore guard Liz Freihofer contributed 13 points on three 3-pointers, while junior forward Kailani Lindsey narrowly missed a double-double with nine points and 10 rebounds.

Sunday's contest will mark EKU's 34th game of the season and just the second time in program history the Colonels have played multiple games in a national postseason tournament.

With a win, EKU would advance to the quarterfinal round to face the winner of Miami (Fla.) or Wisconsin on March 26 at a site to be determined.
