Final Results
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – Facing a field that resembled that of an NCAA Regional, the Eastern Kentucky University women's golf team placed 16th at the loaded Mercedes-Benz Intercollegiate hosted by the University of Tennessee over the weekend.
Half of the 16 teams competing in the event are ranked among the top-40 in the country. No. 2 ranked South Carolina (865) captured the team title by 14 shots over No. 13 Tennessee (879). No. 33 Kent State (880) was third, 40th ranked Louisville (884) was fourth and 21st ranked Central Florida (887) rounded out the top five teams.
EKU shot rounds of 324, 313 and 320 for a 54-hole total of 957.
The three-day event was contested at the par 71, 5,870-yard Cherokee Country Club in Knoxville.
Becky Sharpe (235) led Eastern and tied for 68th overall.
Anna Gleixner (238) and
Sofie Levin (238) tied for 75th in a field of 90 golfers. Levin's second round 2-over 73 was Eastern Kentucky's best round of the event.
The Colonels will close out the fall portion of their 2014-15 schedule on Oct. 27-28 at the Charles Braun Intercollegiate hosted by the University of Evansville.
