#5 South Carolina Completes Sweep Of EKU Baseball

COLUMBIA, S.C. – Eastern Kentucky lost 6-0 at No. 5 South Carolina on Sunday. The Gamecocks complete the three-game sweep by holding the Colonels scoreless for the third straight game.

South Carolina (7-0) has not allowed a run in 51 straight innings.

The Gamecocks took control with four runs in the third. Back-to-back RBI singles by Connor Bright and Grayson Greiner put the home team in front 2-0. DC Arendas capped the inning with a two-run single to right.

Will Crowe (2-0) shut the Colonels down for six and one-third innings. He scattered four hits, walked one and struck out five.

Myles Scott (0-2) started for Eastern Kentucky. He allowed four runs on six hits in two and one-third innings. The senior walked two and struck out two.

Relievers Ben Brooks, Cameron Langfels and Alex Hamilton combined to shut the Gamecocks out for the next three and two-thirds innings. That ran the bullpen's streak to 10 and one-third consecutive innings without allowing a run. Eastern relievers had held South Carolina scoreless for eight innings. The streak was snapped in the bottom of the seventh when Bright drove in an unearned run with a single to left field.

The relief corps still has a streak of 12 and one-third consecutive innings without allowing an earned run.

Sean Hagen went 3-for-3 for the Colonels. Freshman Shea Sullivan had three hits in four at bats. Bright finished 3-for-4 with a run and two RBIs for Carolina.

EKU returns to action on Friday with the opener of a three game series at North Carolina-Asheville. First pitch is scheduled for 3 p.m.
