RICHMOND, Ky.
– The Eastern Kentucky University track and field team will compete at the Ohio Valley Conference Indoor Championships this weekend at Lantz Fieldhouse on the campus of Eastern Illinois University.

Events on Friday will get underway with the pentathlon at 10:00 a.m. ET and wrap up around 8:00 p.m. ET with the 5,000 meters. The two-day event resumes on Saturday at 10:00 a.m. ET with the heptathlon and will come to an end around 5:00 p.m. ET with the 4x400 meter relay.

Both EKU teams are seeking their fifth OVC indoor titles since 1984. The EKU men won the indoor championships in 2008, while the EKU women's last indoor title came in 1999.

The EKU men's team will be led by junior Amos Kosgey this weekend. Kosgey currently owns the fastest 3,000 meters time (8:08.20) in the conference and the fourth-fastest mile time (4:10.13) in the conference. The native of Eldoret, Kenya took home two silvers at last year's indoor championships and is still seeking his first-ever individual OVC title.

Kosgey will be joined by fellow distance runners Ole Hesselbjerg, who has run the fastest 5,000 meters time (14:31.10) in the OVC this winter, and Tom Koringo, who ranks third in the conference in the mile (4:07.09) and sixth in the 800 meters (1:54.59) and who was named the OVC Male Freshman of the Year on Thursday.

On the women's side, OVC Female Indoor Track Athlete of the Year Ann Eason will look to continue her dominance at the conference level. Eason has won seven individual OVC titles in her career, including three indoors. The Lexington native currently owns the fastest 3,000 meters (9:29.25) and 5,000 meters (16:16.12) times in the conference, and the second-fastest mile (4:54.21) time in the conference.

Eason will have help in the form of Carina Schrempf, the OVC Female Freshman of the Year, who ranks first in the OVC in the 800 meters (2:08.74) and third in the 400 meters (65.25), and Alena Galertová, who ranks first in the conference in the pentathlon (3,779 points).

The EKU men finished fifth at last year's championships, while the EKU women placed eighth.

The Southeast Missouri men and Tennessee State women took home team titles last year.
