RICHMOND, Ky. – All six singles matches were extremely close, but visiting Samford found a way to win five of those matches to come away with a 6-1 victory over the Eastern Kentucky University men's tennis team Sunday morning in the Greg Adams Tennis Center.
The Bulldogs (4-5) took the doubles points thanks to a 9-7 tiebreaker win at No. 3 doubles.
In singles, three of the six singles matches went to a deciding set. Eastern (5-4) won the first set in all three of those matches, only to see the Samford players rally to win each of those contests.
Sophomore
Sebastian Mueller tallied EKU's lone point at the No. 5 spot.
"They have a great coach and he really had them locked in today," EKU head coach
Rob Oertel said.
Next up for Eastern Kentucky is a road trip to Florida. The Colonels are set to take on Bethune-Cookman on March 8 and Embry-Riddle on March 9.
