RICHMOND, Ky. – The EKU women's tennis team dropped its home opener in a 6-1 loss to undefeated American Athletic Conference's Tulane University Sunday at Greg Adams Tennis Center.
The Green Wave took the doubles point to take a 1-0 lead over the Colonels.
In singles play, Tulane extended its lead after claiming points at the No. 1 and No. 2 spot.
Senior Marina Marti outlasted Ivone Alvaro from Tulane for a 7-6, 7-5 win at No. 4 singles, helping the Colonels close in on the lead. However, Tulane took the final three singles' points for win.
Eastern Kentucky (0-1) travels to take on the University of Kentucky on Tuesday. Tuesday's match is scheduled for 6 p.m. at the Boone Tennis Center.
