MEMPHIS, Tenn.
– The Eastern Kentucky University softball team hits the road to Memphis, Tennessee this weekend to play four games in the Tiger Classic hosted by the University of Memphis.
 
The Colonels come into the contest after a twin-bill sweep at Alcorn State on Tuesday, winning by scores of 8-0 in six innings and 12-4. In the game one victory senior Alex Sallberg pitched six shutout innings. 
 
In game two, four Colonels finished with three hits apiece. Krislyn Campos went 3-for-5, Mia Sanchez went 3-for-3, Amber Murray went 3-for-4 and Rachel Minogue had three hits.
 
EKU (9-14) will play St. Louis at 12 p.m. on Friday and 2 p.m. on Saturday, both followed by games against the home team – Memphis – scheduled for 4 p.m. on Friday and 4 p.m. on Saturday.
 
 
AT THE PLATE
-Sophomore Rachel Minogue leads the Colonels and ranks among the league leaders at the dish in multiple categories.  She is 12th in the nation and leads the team and the OVC with a .492 batting average.  She also leads both and is 22nd in the country in on-base percentage (.556), leads the team and is seventh in the conference in slugging percentage (.708), is third in the league and leads the team in hits (32), is ninth in RBI (21) and second in doubles (8).
-Shortstop Johnkyria Alston leads the team and is fourth in the league in runs batted in with 23. She is also fifth in home-runs (5) and doubles (7).
-Las Vegas, Nevada native Krislyn Campos is seventh in the conference and leads the team in runs scored (20).
 
IN THE CIRCLE
-Freshman Mollie Paulick leads the pitching staff and is fourth in the conference with a 1.12 earned run average.
-Chantilly, Virginia native Alex Sallberg ranks 10th in the league in strikeouts (52) and sixth in batters struck out looking (18).
 
THE OPPONENTS
-Memphis comes into the weekend with an 11-11 mark, while St. Louis comes in at 11-6.
