Colonels Look to Win Fourth Straight at NKU

HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky.
– The Eastern Kentucky University softball team will look to win its fourth straight game when the Colonels travel to Northern Kentucky for a midweek, non-conference showdown on Tuesday.
 
The Colonels swept OVC foe Tennessee State in a doubleheader on Friday, outscoring the Tigers 12-2 and 12-1. In game two, sophomore Rachel Minogue set a program record with eight RBI. She finished the game 5-for-5 with a grand slam, a two-run double and two runs scored.
 
After the successful weekend, Eastern has improved to 18-23 overall and 6-5 in conference play.
 
First pitch from Frank Ignatius Grein Field is scheduled for 4 p.m.
 
AT THE PLATE
- Corona, California native Rachel Minogue is leading the Colonels and the OVC, and is 34th in the nation, with a .423 batting average.
 
- Minogue and junior Johnkyria Alston – EKU's 3-4 hitters – lead the OVC in doubles with 15 apiece. They are also the top two run producers in the league. Alston leads the OVC with 37 RBI, while Minogue is second with 36.
 
- Mia Sanchez is sitting at second on the team with a .356 batting average. The freshman is 17-for-19 when stealing.
 
- Sophomore Hannah Clark leads EKU with eight homers on the season. She has accumulated a .545 slugging percentage.  
 
IN THE CIRCLE
- Freshman right-hander Mollie Paulick has accumulated a stingy 2.36 ERA with an even 8-8 record from the rubber. The Centerville, Ohio native won two games last week and has allowed only three runs over her last 18 innings of work.
 
- Senior Alex Sallberg (7-11) hurled a complete game at TSU on Friday. She gave up only one run over seven innings while striking out five batters and walking none.
 
THE OPPONENT
- The Norse are 12-28 on the season and 6-9 in the Horizon League.
 
- Ava Lawson leads NKU in hitting average with a .302 batting average. She has seven doubles, two triples and one home run on the season.
 
- Of those with more than one appearance, Charlie Nolen leads the pitching staff with a 3.76 ERA over 21 times in the circle.
