Basketball Teams Host Rival Morehead State On Saturday

RICHMOND, Ky. – The men's and women's basketball teams will host rival Morehead State University on Saturday at McBrayer Arena.  Coca Cola fandanas will be given away during both games.
 
Tip-off for the women's game is scheduled for 4:30 p.m.  The men's game will start at 7 p.m.
 
Saturday will be Senior Day for the women's team and the Colonels' annual Pink Out Game.  Free shirts will be given out to fans before the women's game, while supplies last.  In an effort to raise awareness for the fight against breast cancer, the team will wear pink shooting shirts.  The Madison County Breast Cancer Outreach Program will give out pink ribbons and wrist bands to fans before the game, and will address the team before the game.
 
In addition, it is also basketball alumni weekend.  Former players from both teams will be back on campus and recognized during the games.

The Xtreme Team Little Dribblers will perform during halftime of the men's game.  The Coca Cola Refresh Crew will be giving out free samples during the men's game. 
 
Colonel Club members are invited to the Fred Darling Auxiliary Gym in between the women's and men's game for a hospitality event sponsored by Golden Corral.

EKU is 7-15 overall and 4-9 in OVC games.
 
The Colonels lost at home to UT Martin, 72-54, on Thursday.
 
Abby Wright hit five three-pointers and scored a career-best 24 points against UT Martin.
 
Bria Bass posted her first career double-double on Thursday, finishing with 13 points and 10 rebounds.
 
EKU leads the all-time series 50-43.  Eastern Kentucky has won 10 of the last 12 meetings between the two teams.
 
Through 21 games this season, Eastern Kentucky has out-rebounded its opponent 16 times.  The Colonels are fourth in the OVC in rebounding margin (+3.4 per game).
 
Wright is 12th in the OVC in scoring (14.0 ppg), 20th in rebounding (5.7/g), 10th in free throw shooting (77.9 percent), 12th in three-point shooting percentage (37.5 percent), 11th in three-pointers made (1.7/g) and 18th in minutes played (31.8/g).
 
SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
Morehead State (18-8, 9-4 OVC) has won five of its last six games, with the only loss during that time to OVC leader Belmont.
 
The Eagles are coming off a 60-58 overtime victory at home against Southeast Missouri.
 
Miranda Crockett leads the team in scoring (15.2 ppg) and is second in rebounding (6.2 rpg).
 
As a team, Morehead State averages 73.4 points per game and allows 65.  The Eagles shoot just 26 percent from three-point range, but out-rebound their opponents by 7.2 boards per game.

EKU (8-18, 2-11 OVC) dropped a heartbreaker to UT Martin, 70-69, on Thursday night. UTM's Matthew Butler knocked down a three-pointer with 1.4 seconds on the clock to lift the Skyhawks to victory.
 
Nick Mayo exploded for a career-high 36 points against UT Martin on Thursday. He knocked down a career-high 13 field goals, including a career-high seven three-pointers.
 
Mayo is 11-of-15 from three-point range over EKU's last three games. He now leads the OVC in three-point field goal percentage (48.3%).
 
Mayo passed Demarkus Doss and Jack Adams to reach No. 11 on EKU's all-time scoring list on Thursday (1,469 points).
 
Mayo also enters Saturday's game four blocks shy of tying the EKU career record (115).
 
Sophomore Dujuanta Weaver returned from a three-game injury on Thursday and knocked down a career-high four three-pointers.
 
As a team, EKU drained a season-best 14 three-pointers on Thursday.
 
SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
Morehead State (6-18, 2-11 OVC) fell at home to Southeast Missouri, 78-62, on Thursday.
 
The Eagles are paced by Jordan Walker, who comes into Saturday averaging 11.3 points-per-game.
 
This is the 189th all-time meeting between EKU and Morehead State. Eastern leads the series, 108-80; however, the Eagles have won four straight over the Colonels.
