RICHMOND, Ky. – Aasiya Berry, a 6-foot-2 center from Miami, Florida, has signed a National Letter of Intent (NLI) to play basketball at Eastern Kentucky University.

Berry joins the Colonel program from Miami Country Day School.  As a senior in 2018 she helped the Spartans win a third straight state championship.  Berry was chosen first team All-Dade County after averaging 10.5 points and 10 rebounds per game.

"Aasiya fills a much needed void for our program," EKU Head Coach Chrissy Roberts said.  "She is an extremely skilled post player that will bring some much need inside presence in the lane.  Aasiya is going to be a joy to coach, and to watch play.  The sky is the limit for her, and I can't wait to put in work with her!  She is a great person with a super personality.  We are ecstatic that Aasiya chose EKU to be her home away from home."

She also was a first team All-Dade County selection as a junior after contributing 10.1 points and nine rebounds per game to the 2017 state championship team that finished the season 31-1.

Berry was a third team All-Dade County choice as a freshman when she averaged 8.5 points and 5.5 rebounds.

The Colonels have advanced to the Ohio Valley Conference Tournament championship game twice in the last three seasons.
