RICHMOND, Ky. – Hailey McCoy, a 5-foot-10 guard from San Diego California, signed a National Letter of Intent (NLI) to play basketball at Eastern Kentucky.
McCoy was a first team All-San Diego selection as a senior in 2018 at Mission Hills High School. She averaged 17 points, eight rebounds, four assists and three steals per game while knocking down 72 three-pointers.

"Hailey is a strong, physical guard who is always in attack mode," said Roberts. "She can play multiple guard positions and can score in a variety of ways. She is a very unselfish player, and is a student of the game with an outstanding work ethic. Her passion for the game is through the roof!  I am really looking forward to coaching Hailey. I am so glad she chose EKU!"

As a junior, McCoy helped the Grizzlies to a 30-3 record, an Avocado League championship and a San Diego Open Section championship. After averaging 15 points and seven rebounds per game, McCoy earned first team All-San Diego honors and first team All-State Junior Class.

McCoy played her freshman and sophomore seasons at Oak Ridge High School. As a sophomore she led the Trojans to a 29-3 mark and a Sierra Valley Conference championship. She averaged 14 points and six boards per game that season.

During her high school career, McCoy scored over 1,500 points, made 217 three-pointers and helped her teams to a varsity record of 110-20.

The Colonels have advanced to the Ohio Valley Conference Tournament championship game twice in the last three seasons.
