RICHMOND, Ky. – Catie Kaifes, a 6-foot forward from Shawnee, Kansas, has signed a National Letter of Intent (NLI) to play basketball at Eastern Kentucky.

Kaifes comes to EKU after spending the past two seasons at State Fair Community College in Sedalia, Missouri. She earned second team all-conference and all-region recognition as a freshman. In 2018 she was picked first team all-conference and all-region after averaging 14.1 points and seven rebounds per game. She shot 40 percent from three-point range as a sophomore.

Chrissy Roberts. "Catie is a very skilled, versatile forward, with great size who can flat out shoot the ball and will be a great asset to our program. She has a great understanding of the game and knows what it takes to be a Division I student-athlete. Not only is she a tremendous talent, but she is even a better person. Catie has a very bright future and we are just thrilled to be a part of it. She will be fun to coach and watch!"

Kaifes played high school ball at Mill Valley High School in Shawnee, Kansas. She was a first team all-state selection her senior season when she averaged 17.6 points and eight rebounds per game. She was an honorable mention all-state selections as a junior when she contributed 16 points and eight boards per game. Kaifes was chosen by the Lawrence Journal World as a top-10 area player each of her final two seasons.

The Colonels have advanced to the Ohio Valley Conference Tournament championship game twice in the last three seasons.
