CHARLESTON, S.C. – Eastern Kentucky University's beach volleyball team lost a pair of contests on the final day of the Gamecock Grand Slam.
 
The Colonels (0-4) lost to the University of Alabama-Birmingham, 5-0, and 10th ranked University of South Carolina, 5-0.
 
In match number one, the four and five seeds started off the contest.  
 
No.4 Kennedy Wilson and Rachel Woody lost in set number two 21-15 in their matchup. No. 5 Clairissa Hankinson and Annie Cvelbar lost 21-15 in their opening set before losing in straight sets.
 
UAB (8-7) swept the Colonels in the first match without dropping a set.
 
In match two against South Carolina, the Gamecocks wasted no time winning the first couple sets in the four and five pairings, and did not look back.
 
No. 1 Sydney Schoen and Katelyn Caserma-Kloeble lost 21-6 in both sets.
 
South Carolina (10-6) won in straight sets to win the match 5-0.
