HUNTSVILLE, Ala. - The Eastern Kentucky University beach volleyball team fell 5-0 to No. 3 FGCU in the opening round of the ASUN Beach Volleyball Championship.

The Eagles jumped out to an early advantage, earning two straight-set victories in the No. 1 and No. 2 flights.

After dropping the opening set,
Carlyn Mcallister and
Amanda Floystad responded with a 21-19 win in the second set to force a decisive third set.

In the No. 4 and No. 5 flights, the Eagles secured straight-set wins to simultaneously clinch the match.

Battling to the end in the No. 3 flight, Mcallister and Floystad came up short in the final set, 15-9.

The Colonels will face Central Arkansas on Thursday at 3 p.m. ET, looking for their second ASUN Tournament victory in program history. EKU eliminated the Bears last season with a 3-0 victory. The two teams also met earlier this season, when the Colonels earned a 3-2 win.
