Colonels Continue Indoor Season at Kentucky's Jim Green Invitational

RICHMOND, Ky. – The Eastern Kentucky University track and field teams continue the indoor season at Kentucky's Jim Green Invitational this weekend at Nutter Field House in Lexington.
 
 
WHAT TO KNOW
 
Field events get started on Friday with the high jump at 1:30 p.m., followed by track events at 4 p.m.
 
Action continues on Saturday, starting with the shot put at 11 a.m. Saturday's track events get underway around noon.
 
Nineteen teams are expected to compete over the weekend, including Alabama A&M, Bellarmine, Belmont, Butler, Campbellsville, Cincinnati, Dayton, EKU, Kansas State, Kentucky, Kentucky State, Middle Tennessee State, North Carolina A&T, Ohio State, Southern Illinois, Tennessee State, Thomas More, Western Kentucky, Xavier.
 
Senior JP Ferraro was named the OVC Male Track Athlete of the Week on Wednesday. Ferraro won the 400 meters at Kentucky's Jingle Bells Open on December 6 with an OVC-best time of 49.49.
 
Several other Colonels also looked strong at the Jingle Bells Open over a month ago.
 
Sophomore Quantasia Perry – the reigning OVC silver medalist in the outdoor 100 meters – ran the third-fastest qualifying time in the women's 60 meters (a personal-best 7.65), and she followed that up by finishing fourth in the finals with yet another personal-best (7.64).
 
Later in the evening, Perry took second in the 200 meters with a time of 24.89.
 
Junior Ashley Barr – the reigning OVC bronze medalist in the indoor 800 meters – ran away from the field in the women's 1,000 meters, defeating a pair of Kentucky runners by more than four seconds with a time of 2:54.99.
 
On the men's side, sophomore Bryce Favors-Charleston captured a couple of personal-bests at the meet, finishing second in the 200 meters (22.15) and 12th in the 60 meters (7.15).

EKU will compete at Marshall's Thundering Herd Invitational January 24-25 in Huntington.
