RICHMOND, Ky. – Monticello, Kentucky native Gehrig Sexton will join the men's golf program at Eastern Kentucky beginning with the 2022-23 season.
Sexton played at Wayne County High School and was a 2020 Kentucky High School Second Team All-State selection.
He finished 10
th out of 72 players at Barbasol Junior Qualifier (75-72) and 17
th at AJGA Event in Ashland (74-75-70). Sexton had a second place finish in a Hurricane Junior Tour event at the University Club of Kentucky. He won the Bluegrass Junior Tour Event at Lakewood Golf Club in Russel Springs, Kentucky.
"I am very happy that Gehrig has decided to join our team next fall," said EKU Head Coach
Mike Whitson. "He is a talented and athletic player who has the ability to become a very good player in the future. Over the last couple of years, Gehrig has posted some good results, and with hard work he can continue to build on that as he begins his college career."
Sexton's brother Reese, a redshirt freshman, is a current member of the Eastern Kentucky golf team.
EKU has concluded the fall portion of its 2021-22 schedule. The team will begin spring competition on Feb. 19 at The Invitational at Savannah Harbor.
