RICHMOND, Ky. – The Eastern Kentucky University men's golf team has added transfer Jonathan Ericsson to its 2026-27 roster, head coach
Pat Stephens announced Monday.
Ericsson joins EKU after spending his freshman and sophomore seasons at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, where he competed in 39 rounds across 14 tournaments and posted a 74.7 stroke average. He is the second transfer portal addition for the Colonels this offseason.
"The EKU men's golf program welcomes another talented played from Sweden," said Stephens. "Jonathan Ericsson comes to us after two successful years at UAB, he possesses great length off the tee with lots of experience playing in elite tournaments. We are looking forward to seeing Jonathan wear the maroon and white representing the Colonels. Welcome to EKU Jonathan, Go Big E!"
As a sophomore in 2025-26, Ericsson competed in four tournaments for UAB and recorded a 76.1 stroke average across 10 rounds.
Ericsson opened the season in the starting lineup at the Argent Financial Classic and concluded the year competing as an individual at both the GMAC Invitational and Thomas Sharkey Collegiate. At the GMAC Invitational, Ericsson posted his lowest round of the season with a 71.

In just his second collegiate tournament, Ericsson shot 4-under-par 212 at the home GMAC Invitational to finish tied for 18th. He later earned the first top 10 finish of his collegiate career at the Hal Williams Collegiate on Feb. 10-11, 2025, carding a 7-under-par 206.
A native of Ljunghusen, Sweden, Ericsson continued his strong play late in the season with two additional top 15 finishes, including a third-place showing at the Old Corkscrew Intercollegiate with a three-round total of 214 (-2) on April 7-8, 2025, hosted by FGCU.
During his freshman campaign, he recorded two top 10 finishes and four top 20 showings while reaching a career-best national ranking of No. 617. He also had 12 rounds at or below par and posted his career-low round of 68 on four separate occasions.
Ericsson was selected to UAB's starting lineup for the 2025 American Athletic Conference Championship, held April 21-23 in Sarasota, Florida. He finished tied for 40th with a three-round total of 219 (+3).
