Battle Of The Bluegrass Rivalry Continues Saturday When Colonels Visit WKU

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. –
 EKU will travel to Bowling Green to face Western Kentucky on Saturday in the latest installment of the Battle of the Bluegrass.
 
The game is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. and will air live on ESPN+.  The live radio broadcast of the game is available in the Richmond area on WCYO 100.7 FM, and can be heard worldwide on EKUSports.com.
 
INSIDE THE SERIES
-  Western Kentucky leads the all-time series 115-44.  The first game between the two teams was played during the 1914-15 season.  The most recent meeting came on Nov. 15, 2019. 
 
-  The Hilltoppers won that game, 79-71, in Richmond.  Jomaru Brown hit on 16-of-28 from the field and scored 41 points for the Colonels.
 
THE COLONELS
-  Eastern Kentucky (5-3) suffered an 88-75 loss at Radford on Sunday.
 
Braxton Beverly scored a season-best 17 points against Radford.
 
-  The Colonels lead the ASUN Conference and are 30th in the nation in 3-point field goal percentage defense this season at 26.7 percent (47-of-176).
 
-  Eastern Kentucky leads the ASUN with an average of 13 offensive rebounds per game.
 
-  The Colonels have hit 13 or more 3-pointers in six of their eight games this season.  Through Dec. 1, EKU is first in the ASUN, and fourth in the nation, in 3-pointers per game (12.63).
 
Michael Moreno is third in the ASUN in rebounding (7.13 rpg), 11th in scoring (13.00 ppg) and tied for sixth in steals (1.75 spg).
 
Devontae Blanton is eighth in the ASUN with 3.88 assists per game.
 
SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
-  Western Kentucky is 4-3 this season after beating Rhodes College, 105-35, on Tuesday.  The Hilltoppers also have wins over Alabama State (79-74), Alabama A&M (88-62) and Tennessee-Martin (81-66).  WKU lost to Minnesota (73-69), South Carolina (75-64) and Memphis (74-62), which was ranked No. 11 at the time.   
 
-  As a team, Western Kentucky averages 78 points per game and has allowed 66 per contest.  The Hilltoppers are shooting 47 percent from the field and 35 percent from 3-point range.  WKU has held its opponents to 39 percent shooting from the floor and 30 percent from long distance.  Western has committed 16 .4 turnovers per game, but are forcing 18.7 from its opponents.
 
-  WKU is seventh in the nation in blocked shots (6.7 per game) and seventh in steals (11.0 per game).
 
-  Jairus Hamilton, a 6-foot-8 senior forward, leads the team in scoring at 17.6 points per game.  The transfer from Maryland has hit on 52 percent of his attempts from the field.  Dayvion McKnight, a 6-foot-1 sophomore guard, is second on the team in scoring (13.9), second in rebounding (6.9 rpg) and first in assists (5.7 apg).
 
-  Hamilton had 24 points on 11-of-13 shooting against Rhodes.  McKnight finished the game with 10 assists, eight rebounds and two points.
