Basketball Teams Wrap Up Regular Season with Home Doubleheader vs. Tennessee State

RICHMOND, Ky. – The Eastern Kentucky University women's and men's basketball teams will wrap up the regular season with a home doubleheader vs. Tennessee State on Saturday at McBrayer Arena. The women tip at 4 p.m. ET, followed by the men at 7 p.m. ET.

Both games will air live on ESPN+.

Senior Day recognitions will take place before each game.

Commemorative "500th Win at McBrayer Arena" tickets will be given out at the men's game.

INSIDE THE SERIES

- This is the 69th all-time meeting between the two teams.
 
- Eastern leads the all-time series between the two teams, 43-25.

THE COLONELS
-  Eastern comes in at 8-15 (7-12 OVC), after falling to Belmont, 79-55, Thursday night at McBrayer Arena.
 
-  Bria Bass led the way for the Colonels matching a career-high 25 points and pulling down 11 rebounds against the Bruins.
 
-  Bass became the 24th member of the 1,000-point club, knocking down the first basket of the game for the Colonels.
 
-  Freshman Alice Recanati had 12 points, five rebounds and four assists against the Bruins.
 
 
SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
-  Tennessee State comes into the contest at 0-21 (0-19 OVC), after falling to Morehead State, 60-52, Thursday night at Morehead.
 
-  Taylor Roberts led the way for the Lady Tigers with 18 points and five steals against the Eagles.
 
-  Three players recorded double-digits against Morehead State on Thursday.

WHAT TO KNOW
 
EKU (20-6, 14-5 OVC) handed Belmont its first OVC loss of the season on Thursday and, in doing so, won its program-record 14th conference game of the season.
 
The Colonels are one of only five teams in the country with 20 wins so far this season – joining Belmont (24), Gonzaga (23), Drake (23), and Winthrop (20).
 
EKU's three freshmen – Wendell Green Jr. (22), Curt Lewis (15) and Devontae Blanton (8) – accounted for more than half of EKU's points in the win over Belmont.
 
EKU's win over Belmont snapped an 11-game losing streak to the Bruins. It also snapped Belmont's 30-game  OVC win streak, which was one away from tying the all-time conference record.
 
Eastern ranks in the top-25 in the NCAA in 10 categories - including 3rd in steals-per-game (10.4), 3rd in turnover margin (+6.2), 3rd in turnovers forced-per-game (19.4), 11th in scoring (82.7), 3rd in three-pointers made (256), and 4th in total assists (423).
 
 
SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
 
Tennessee State (4-18, 3-16 OVC) fell at Morehead State, 74-60, on Thursday.
 
Mark Freeman leads the Tigers at 16.9 points-per-game.

This is the 70th all-time meeting between EKU and Tennessee State. The Colonels lead the series, 39-30, and have won five straight over the Tigers.
