Game 1 | Game 2
MARTIN, Tenn. – The Eastern Kentucky University softball team swept a doubleheader against UT Martin on Friday afternoon in Martin.
Eastern Kentucky (18-7, 10-3 OVC) took game one, 2-1, before winning game two of the doubleheader 6-4.

Sammi Miller got things started in game one with a leadoff walk in the top of the first.
Carly Robinson followed with a walk of her own to put runners on first and second with one out. After
Vianna Barron reached on an error to load the bases,
Lou Bowers worked the third walk of the inning to bring home Miller and give Eastern the 1-0 lead. Â

Miller again walked in the top of the fifth to put a runner on first with one out. Robinson delivered in a big way with two outs, sending a 2-2 pitch into the right center gap to score Miller from first and give the Colonels a 2-0 lead.

UT Martin (16-7, 6-5 OVC) got a run back in the bottom of the fifth.

Kaci Fuller got things going for the Skyhawks on a bunt single with two outs. Fuller stole second and reached third on a wild pitch. Shyanne Sheffield brought home Fuller with an infield single to cut into the Colonel lead, 2-1.

Peterson (8-1) went the distance in the circle tossing seven innings, allowing four hits, one run and striking out two.

Robinson went 1-for-2 with one double and one RBI. Barron and
Miranda Lopez each had a hit.

In game two, the Colonels again scored in the top of the first without recording a hit.

Miller got things started with a walk and
Kara Gunter got hit by a pitch to put runners on first and second with no one out. After advancing to third on a foul out, Barron brought home Miller with a sacrifice fly to center field to give the Colonels a 1-0 lead.

The Skyhawks got the run back in the bottom of the second with three singles to tie the game at 1-1 after two innings.

In the top of the third, Miller again got things started this time with a single to left center. After reaching second base via a ground out, Barron brought home Miller with a single to right center for her second RBI of the game.

The Colonels pushed two more runs across in the top of the fourth after a UT Martin fielding error and a sacrifice fly by Miller to take a 4-1 lead over the Skyhawks.

UTM cut into the lead in the bottom of the fifth with a solo home run by Fuller.

In the top of the sixth inning, Miller and
Ariyana Miranda hit back-to-back home runs to take a 6-2 advantage over UT Martin.

The Skyhawks cut the lead to two, 6-4, after a two-run home in the bottom of the seventh but could never get any closer.

Mollie Paulick (5-0) went the distance in the circle in game two, tossing seven innings, allowing two runs and striking out four.

Eastern wraps up the three-game series against the Skyhawks tomorrow in Martin. First-pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m.
