Full 2023 Schedule

RICHMOND, Ky. –
EKU will host Cincinnati, Morehead State, Northern Kentucky and Marshall as part of its 25-game non-conference schedule this upcoming season.

Non-conference road games for the Colonels in 2023 include Louisville, Kentucky, Tennessee, Western Kentucky, Morehead State, Dayton and Marshall.

The season will begin with four games in Mobile, Alabama on Feb. 17-19.  Eastern Kentucky will face Alabama-Birmingham, then play a doubleheader against host South Alabama and conclude the weekend against Northwestern State.  South Alabama, where EKU Head Coach Chris Prothro served as an assistant for five seasons, went 31-23 last season.  UAB also won 30-plus games last year.

The home opener is slated for Feb. 21 against Northern Kentucky at 4 p.m.  UNC Asheville will come to Earle Combs Stadium for a weekend series on Feb. 24-26.  UNCA finished third in the Big South Conference in 2022.

EKU will play at Louisville on Feb. 28 before taking to the road for a three-game series at Western Carolina on March 3-5.  UofL won 42 games and advanced to a Super Regional last season.

Cincinnati will visit Richmond on March 8.  The Bearcats were 12-12 in the American Athletic Conference a year ago.  Presbyterian College will come in for a weekend series March 10-12.

The first of two games against in-state rival Morehead State is scheduled for March 14 in Morehead.

The Colonels will play at Kentucky on March 21.  EKU went to Lexington last season and handed the Wildcats a 6-3 loss.

Morehead State comes to Earle Combs Stadium on March 28.  A day later, Eastern Kentucky will play at Dayton.

EKU travels to Knoxville to face the Volunteers on April 11.  UT had one of the best seasons in college baseball history in 2022, finishing 57-9, winning the Southeastern Conference, the SEC Tournament and advancing to the NCAA Super Regionals.

A home-and-home midweek series against Marshall is set for April 18-19.  The Thundering Herd will come to Richmond before the Colonels return the trip the next day to Huntington.

Eastern Kentucky will play at Xavier on April 25 and at Northern Kentucky on May 2.  The Musketeers had a 30-win season in 2022.

The final regular season non-conference contest will take the Colonels to Bowling Green to play at Western Kentucky on May 9.

EKU finished the 2022 season 38-20, champions of the ASUN Conference West Division and tied for the best conference record in the ASUN.  It was the most wins for an Eastern Kentucky team since the 1990 squad won 42 games.  The Colonels won all three of their games in pool play to earn a spot in the ASUN Tournament semifinals.

The 2023 ASUN schedule was released in July.  The West Champions will host Bellarmine, North Florida, Florida Gulf Coast, Lipscomb and Liberty.  EKU's road foes for the 2023 conference season will be Kennesaw State, Jacksonville, North Alabama, Queens and Central Arkansas.  Of the five conference opponents EKU will face at home, four made the 2022 ASUN Tournament and two of those advanced to the ASUN final four.
