Willis Gaer tied for first and Eastern Kentucky tied for fourth at the Jackrabbit Invitational hosted by South Dakota State on Friday and Saturday.

Gaer began play on Friday with a first round 3-under 69 then shot a second round 1-over 73. On Saturday, the Des Moines, Iowa native went under par again with a 2-under 70. His 54-hole total of 212 (-4) tied two others for first – Ty Kretz of South Dakota State and Griffin Parker of Northern Iowa.

As a team, EKU shot rounds of 294, 290 and 300 for a total of 884. Eastern Kentucky tied with Colorado Christian (884) for fourth. Those two teams were 10 shots behind third place South Dakota State (874). Texas State (860) beat Chattanooga (870) by 10 shots for the team title.

The 13-team event was contested on the par 72, 7,402-yard Boulder Creek Golf Course.

The trio of
Lake Leroux,
Francesco Guarneri and
Wil Griffin tied for 29th overall with identical scores of 225 (+9). Leroux and Griffin both shot even-par 72 in round two.
