Women’s Basketball Adds Brie Wajer as Director of Basketball Operations

Wajer arrives to Richmond after four seasons with Villanova

RICHMOND, Ky. – EKU women's basketball head coach Greg Todd announced Brie Wajer will be joining his staff and serving as Director of Basketball Operations on Wednesday afternoon.

"We are thrilled to have Brie join our program," said Todd. "She got a lot of valuable experience last year working at Villanova. As a player she has always been a hard worker and over achiever. Brie has a bright future in this profession."

Wajer arrives to Richmond after spending the 2021-22 season as a Graduate Assistant Director of Basketball Operations with Villanova, prior to her three-year playing career as a Wildcat. During her time serving on Denise Dillons' staff, Brie assisted with day-to-day operations of the women's basketball team, including the operations of the budget, academics, travel, meals, ticketing and team managers.

The Newcastle, Maine native joined Villanova as a sophomore during the 2018-19 season and sat out after transferring from Wingate University. During the 2019-20 season, Wajer played in 16 games and was instrumental in helping the team to a 18-13 record, advancing to the Big East quarterfinals. In her junior campaign, she helped lead the team to a 17-7 record, another appearance in the Big East quarterfinals, and a quarterfinals appearance in the WNIT with wins over Massachusetts and Florida.

Wajer decided to forgo her senior season and accept a position on the Villanova women's basketball staff during the 2021-22 season. In her first year as a Graduate Assistant DOBO, she helped the program to a 24-9 record, where the team upset No. 8 UCONN on the road in the regular season, snapping the Huskies consecutive conference win streak at 193, a achievement that lasted since 2012. Brie played a huge role in the programs post-season effort, Villanova would go on to qualify for the NCAA Tournament and defeat BYU in the Round of 64, then falling to Michigan in the following game.
