LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The Eastern Kentucky cross country teams travel to Louisville for the Live in Lou Classic on Saturday, Oct. 1 at E.P. "Tom" Sawyer State Park. The men race at 9:30 am and the women compete at 10:15 am.
 
"Louisville is always a very competitive meet. It's a great opportunity for some of our men and our women's team to go there and be tested against some of the best in the country," said head coach Cory Erdmann. "It's also the regional course, so it will be very good for the women to have an opportunity to see and compete on that course, prior to hopefully being back there in November when we're in the championship portion of the season."
 
Jone Zabaleta Larranaga led the women at the North Alabama Showcase running a 5K time of 16:41.90 finishing in fifth place. She earned the ASUN Women's XC Runner of the Week last week for her performance.
 
Graduate students Jone Zabaleta Larranaga, Saskia Pingpank, Alicia Recio, seniors Katy Chapman, Christina DiFalco, Grace Kilroy, and Anouk van Gils, and freshman Irene Rubio Miralles will lace up for the women.
 
Rolando Ortiz posted the best 8K time (24:30.41) in the men's B group at the North Alabama Showcase.
 
Juniors Caleb Bolus, Liam Kaune, Alex Leshan, sophomores Jan Badia-Celma, Nicodemus Rotich, and freshmen Aniol Borras and Rolando Ortiz will compete for the men.
 
The Colonels will square off against teams such as Auburn, Cincinnati, Clemson, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisville, Memphis, Mississippi State, North Alabama, South Carolina, Tennessee, Tulane, West Virginia, and Western Kentucky.
