MUNCIE, Ind. – Eastern Kentucky men's golf placed T-9^th at the Earl Yestingsmeier Invite hosted by Ball State on Friday and Saturday.
 
As a team, EKU shot 889 over the two-day tournament and tied Central Michigan, 15 strokes less than 8th place Marshall and four strokes better than 11th place Cleveland State.
 
Wright State (846) claims the invitational after shooting 277 as a team in the first round. Host Ball State (859) takes second place and Oakland's third round surge comes up short, finishing third (864).
 
EKU's Justin Begley was the highest Colonel in the standings, the freshman from Manchester, Ky. finished T15th in the field. He shot rounds of 80, 67, and 71 for a total of 218.
 
Matt Jordan (223) tied for 44th, Reese Sexton (224) tied for 48th, Francesco Guarneri (230) and Gehrig Sexton (230) tied for 67th.
 
Eastern Kentucky will return to action next week Sept. 11-13 at the Golfweek Fall Challenge. The event will be played at True Blue Golf Club in Pawley's Island, S.C.
