"This was a good opener for us overall. We had some very good performances highlighted by Pedro Garcia-Palencia's win in the mile and the men's DMR win. In the mile, our group went through 800 meters in 2:10. Then, they competed well over the second 800m with Garcia-Palencia and
Joan Tapias battling until the end for the win. Ahmed Kadri also had a good couple of days splitting 1:51 in the DMR. Then, he ran 4:09 for the mile and 8:14 for the 3,000 meters on Saturday. A couple of our new guys,
Devin Taylor and
Jake Welch started the spring well in the 200 meters. On the women's side, I was quite impressed with
Tarshana Kimbrough making the semi-finals in the hurdles and
Anouk van Gils and
Jone Zabaleta Larranaga raced well in the mile," head coach
Cory Erdmann said.
After a week off, the Colonels will split between the PNC Lenny Lyles Invite in Louisville and the IU Relays in Bloomington, Indiana on Jan. 27-28.
