Colonels Continue Month-Long Home Stand With Game On Friday

RICHMOND, Ky. – The Colonels will play all their games during the month of November inside the friendly confines of Baptist Health Arena, including Friday against Wilberforce University.
 
It will be $2 Day at the game with all upper level seats, popcorn, hot dogs and soda available for $2 each. 
 
The contest will begin at 7 p.m. ET and air live on ESPN+.  The live radio broadcast of the game is available in the Richmond area on WCYO 100.7 FM, or worldwide on EKUSports.com.
 
All single game tickets are on sale now and can be purchased online at EKUSports.com or by calling 859-622-2122.  Fans can also purchase season tickets in person from 9-5 p.m. at the ticket office located in the Olympic Sports Training Center.
 
THE COLONELS
-  EKU, ranked No. 20 in the CollegeInsider.com Mid Major Top 25, opened its 2023-24 season on Tuesday with a 108-72 victory over WVU Tech.
 
Isaiah Cozart, who played just 25 minutes in the season-opener, led the team with 20 points, 14 rebounds and five blocks.  It was his eighth double-double in 38 games as a Colonel.  Cozart was 10-of-14 from the field and pulled down 10 offensive rebounds.
 
-  Newcomer Collin Cooper, who joined the program after playing at fellow Atlantic Sun Conference member Central Arkansas, hit four 3-pointers and finished with 16 points in his EKU debut.  He also had three assists, three steals and two rebounds.
 
-  The Colonels grabbed 24 offensive rebounds against the Golden Bears and turned those into 25 second-chance points.  EKU out-scored its opponent 60-30 in the paint.
 
-  The guard trio of Tayshawn Comer, Leland Walker and Turner Buttry combined for 14 assists and only one turnover.
 
SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
-  Wilberforce is 3-2 this season.  The Bulldogs are an NAIA team and members of the Continental Athletic Conference.  Head coach Mark Mitchell played football at EKU (1986-89).   
 
-  The Bulldogs scored 100-plus points in each of their three wins, starting the season by beating Great Lakes Christian, 111-89, and Simmons, 103-71.  Wilberforce also beat Fisher, 101-99.
 
-  In their two losses, the Bulldogs have allowed 90 or more points.  WU fell to Lourdes, 108-80, and Marian, 90-64.
 
-  Wilberforce is averaging 87 points per game.  The team is allowing 92 points per contest.
 
-  Cali Davis, a 6-foot junior guard, leads the team with an average of 18.3 points per game.  Kyle Cardenas, a 6-foot-3 junior forward, is contributing 14.5 points per contest.
 
INSIDE THE SERIES
-  EKU is 1-0 all-time against Wilberforce. 
 
-  The only meeting between the two programs came on Dec. 1, 1990 in Richmond.  The Colonels won that game 121-48.
