Colonels Set for Top Five ASUN Showdown with Lipscomb

EKU Looks to Continue 10 Game Home Win Streak

RICHMOND, Ky. – Coming off a road series with a big win at Stetson and a gritty loss to FGCU, EKU women's basketball (13-9, 6-3 ASUN) sets its sights on a week at home hosting Lipscomb (13-8, 7-2 ASUN) on Thursday, Feb. 2 at 7:00 p.m. ET inside Alumni Coliseum.
 
As of Feb. 2, the Bison (T2nd) and the Colonels (5th) are paired up in the ASUN Conference standings, setting up a compelling league matchup in week five. Lipscomb is tied for second in the ASUN standings at 7-2 with Liberty and Austin Peay, who EKU plays Saturday.
 
Thursday's game is EKU's celebration of National Girls and Women in Sports Day (NGWSD), the game is presented by Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield. Tickets start as low as $5, courtside seats begin at $25 and can be purchased on the Colonels' website.
 
EKU sits at 6-3 in the ASUN with wins over Kennesaw State, Bellarmine, North Florida, Jacksonville, and a regular season sweep of Stetson.
 
Antwainette Walker, who was just tabbed to the 2023 Ann Meyer's Drysdale Award Mid-Season Top-10 list by the National Baketball Hall of Fame and the WBCA, enters Thursday's contest averaging 21.0 points and 9.8 rebounds per game, all values that lead the ASUN.
 
Walker has recorded 20 consecutive games in double-figure scoring and has racked up 11 double-doubles on the season, placing her amongst the top in the NCAA.
 
Eastern Kentucky Notes
- With 10 consecutive wins at home, EKU head coach Greg Todd moves to 20-6 (.769) all-time inside Baptist Health Arena. Todd sits 10 wins away from 300 in his career.
- Recanati recorded five assists in a 83-70 win at Stetson, moving her to 8th all time in program history in career assists (345).
Emma Hacker and Ariel Kirkwood have both moved into the EKU all-time career blocks list this season, Hacker remains at 10th with 65 career blocks, Kirkwood needs three rejections to move into 8th all-time at 71.
Danielle Rainey recorded the first triple-double in EKU program history with 16 points, 13 rebounds, and 10 assists in the Colonels 110-49 win over Alice Lloyd College.

All-Time vs. Lipscomb
- EKU owns a 5-0 series record over Lipscomb dating back to 2000.
- The Colonels hold a 3-0 record over the Bison at home, going 2-0 over LU last year, renewing a series that was halted since 2002 in EKU's inaugural season in the ASUN.
- In EKU's latest win over Lipscomb last season on the road, five Colonels scored in double-figures; Kirkwood (16), Recanati (15), Jayla Johnson (15), I'Liyah Green (13), and Bria Bass (10).
 
Scouting the Bison
- Lipscomb is led by head coach Lauren Sumski, in six seasons with the Bison she's compiled a 42-61 (.408) record and one winning season.
- At 13-8 on the year, LU played a tough non-conference schedule with wins over Hawaii and Western Kentucky. Close losses to Northern Kentucky (3OT), TCU, San Diego, and Vanderbilt (OT).
- With a 7-2 ASUN record, the Bison earned wins over North Alabama (x2), Jacksonville State (x2), North Florida, Central Arkansas, and Queens. Losses to Kennesaw State and Liberty, both at home.
- Lipscomb averages 29.7 defensive rebounds per game, which leads the ASUN and places the Bison at 21st in the country.
- Three Lipscomb student-athletes average 13 points per game, led by sophomore Aleah Sorrentino (13.6). Sorrentino scored a season-high 27 points in a 3OT thriller against NKU, she's scored double-figures in 16 games this year.
- Sorrentino also leads the Bison in rebounds per game at 8.9.
