Colonels Host First Place Kennesaw State On Saturday

RICHMOND, Ky. – Eastern Kentucky University will host first place Kennesaw State on Saturday at Baptist Health Arena.
 
The game is set to begin at 7 p.m. ET and will air live on ESPN+.  The live radio broadcast of the game is available in the Richmond area on WCYO 100.7 FM, or worldwide on EKUSports.com.

INSIDE THE SERIES
-  EKU leads the all-time series 4-2.  The Colonels won the first four meetings.  The last time the two teams met in Richmond, EKU won 82-81 in triple overtime. 
 
-  In the first meeting this season, EKU trailed by just one at halftime, but Kennesaw State started the second half with a 10-1 run on the way to a 79-75 victory on Jan. 2 in Kennesaw, Georgia.  The Colonels jumped out to a 14-5 lead on the strength of eight early points from Cooper Robb.  Michael Moreno finished with 23 points.  Robb contributed 16 points.  Spencer Rodgers came off the bench to lead Kennesaw State with 17 points.  Demond Robinson finished with nine points and 12 rebounds.  The Owls shot 54 percent from the field in the second half.
 
THE COLONELS
-  EKU (15-9, 8-3 ASUN) beat Jacksonville State, 69-67, on Thursday and sits in third place in the ASUN Conference.  The Colonels have won three of their last four and are 11-1 at home this season.
 
-  Robb hit a 3-pointer from the right corner with 3.1 seconds left to turn a one-point deficit into a two-point lead for the Colonels against Jacksonville State.
 
-  Devontae Blanton finished with a game-best 21 points against JSU.  He made 9-of-15 shots from the field (60 percent).  Over his last four games, Blanton is shooting 57 percent from the field and averaging 18 points and 7.8 rebounds per game.
 
-  Leland Walker had six assists in the win over Jacksonville State.  He is second on the team with an average of 2.8 helpers per game.
 
-  Isaiah Cozart blocked four shots against the Gamecocks and now has 53 blocks on the season.  He is just two away from tying Nick Mayo's single season program record of 55 blocks.  He leads the ASUN with 2.21 per game.
 
SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
-  Kennesaw State sits at 18-6 overall and is tied with Liberty for first place in the ASUN with a 10-1 record.  The Owls have won eight straight since losing their only league game, 89-86, at North Florida on Jan. 5.   
 
-  KSU overcame a 17-point first half deficit on Thursday at Bellarmine and beat the Knights, 90-84, in double overtime.
 
-  Terrell Burden (27) and Chris Youngblood (20) combined for 47 points against Bellarmine.  Burden added six rebounds, six assists and two steals.
 
-  Chris Youngblood, a 6-foot-4 junior guard, leads the team with 14.6 points per game this season.  Burden, a 5-foot-10 senior guard, is averaging 12.8 points and a team-best 3.8 assists per game.  Robinson, a 6-foot-8 senior forward, is contributing 10.4 points and 5.6 boards per contest.
 
-  As a team, Kennesaw State averages 76.2 points and has held its opponents to 68.9 points per game.  The Owls are shooting 46 percent from the field.
