Women’s Golf Looks to Defend Title, Hosting Colonel Classic on Monday

RICHMOND, Ky. – In the final regular season event of the 2022-23 season, EKU women's golf prepares to defend its title, hosting 16 schools at the Colonel Classic on April 3-4.
 
EKU won the Colonel Classic last season finishing 22 strokes below second place Georgia State with a three-round total of 878. The Colonels had three student-athletes finish inside the top-10 in the field, including current members Elisa Orduna Shackleton and Rylea Marcum.
 
This week's golf action will be played at University Club at Arlington, EKU's home course, a par-72 at 5,986 yards. Format for the event will be continuous 36 holes for rounds one and two on Monday, and a final 18 holes on Tuesday.
 
Teams in the field are scheduled to tee at 8:30 a.m. ET on Monday. Fans can follow along with live updates on GolfStat.com.
 
The Colonels are coming off a 12th-place finish last weekend in Johns Creek, Ga. at the Georgia State Spring Invitational. Marcum led the squad placing T11th with a three-round total of 219.
 
All EKU women's golf student-athletes will participate in the Colonel Classic, head coach Mandy Moore submitted five of Marcum, Orduna Shackleton, Elizabeth Tucci, Maddie Hensley, and Mattie Jo Neeley
 
Grace Clark, Alice Daag, and Mary Keene Marrs will enter the field as individual participants.
 
Other participating schools in the field consists of Akron, Austin Peay, Ball State, Bellarmine, Belmont, Bradley, Butler, Cleveland State, Dayton, Georgia State, Illinois State, Kentucky (Individuals), Marshall, Morehead State, North Alabama, and Ohio.
