EKUHoops Making First ASUN Road Trip

CONWAY, Ark. – After starting Atlantic Sun Conference play with a pair of home court victories, Eastern Kentucky University will take to the road for a pair of league games at Central Arkansas on Thursday and North Alabama on Saturday.
 
Thursday's game in Conway will begin at 8:30 p.m. ET and air live on ESPN+.  The live radio broadcast of the game is available in the Richmond area on WCYO 100.7 FM, or worldwide on EKUSports.com.
 
THE COLONELS
-  The Colonels picked up their second straight win on Saturday, beating Austin Peay 69-59 to improve to 6-9 overall and 2-0 in ASUN games.
 
-  EKU started the conference schedule with two wins for the first time since the 2014-15 season.
 
-  Isaiah Cozart, the reigning ASUN Player of the Week, recorded a double-double against the Governors, finishing with 23 points and 14 rebounds.  Leland Walker had 21 points.  Michael Moreno grabbed 12 rebounds.
 
-  Walker leads the team with 4.33 assists per game while averaging 14.9 points per contest.  He is 10th in the conference in scoring, fifth in free throw percentage, fifth in assists, eighth in field goal percentage and 10th in assist-to-turnover ratio.
 
SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
-  Central Arkansas is 5-12 this season, but the Bears have won two straight and four of their last seven.  UCA picked up an 84-81 win at North Alabama in its first conference game of the season on Saturday.   
 
- With Central Arkansas ahead by one against North Alabama, Tucker Anderson went to the free throw line with 4.4 seconds left and hit both to secure the win.  The true freshman finished with a career-best 24 points, hitting 5-of-7 attempts from 3-point range and 7-of-13 overall.
 
-  Anderson, a 6-foot-9 forward and this week's ASUN Newcomer of the Week, leads the team with an average of 14.2 points per game.  He has shot 40 percent from the field for the season and 39 percent (44-of-112) from 3-point range.  Ubongabasi Etim, a 6-foot-9 230-pound sophomore forward, leads the team in rebounding (8.6 rpg) and contributes 6.3 points per contest.
 
-  UCA shot 49 percent from the field against North Alabama and went 18-of-24 at the free throw line (75 percent).
 
INSIDE THE MATCH-UP
-  EKU is first in the ASUN in rebound margin at +4.67.  Central Arkansas is 11th among 12 teams at -1.82.
 
-  The Colonels enter the game third in the ASUN in field goal percentage (44.7 percent).  Central Arkansas has the lowest field goal percentage in the league (41.3 percent).
 
-  The game will feature the top two rebounders in the conference.  Cozart (9.79 rpg) leads the league and Etim (8.56 rpg) is second.
 
INSIDE THE SERIES
-  The series is tied 2-2.  Central Arkansas won the first two meetings, during the 2021-22 season.  The Colonels won both meetings during the 2022-23 season, including a 74-58 victory at home on Feb. 16, 2023.
 
-  EKU got 16 points from Cozart and had five players in double figures in the win last February.  The Colonels opened the game with seven consecutive points and led by as many as 14 in the first half.  A 9-0 run early in the period featured four points from Moreno and stretched the lead to 18 points with 13:39 left to play.  EKU forced 23 turnovers and scored 22 second-chance points off 19 offensive rebounds.
