JONESBORO, Ark. – The Eastern Kentucky University women's golf team finished in seventh place overall at the Lady Red Wolves Classic on Tuesday afternoon.
The Colonels moved up two spots in the final round with their best round of the tournament at nine-over in the final round.
The seventh-place finish saw EKU finish ahead of three other ASUN teams competing in North Alabama (10
th), Austin Peay (12
th), and West Georgia (14
th)
"We had a lot of good moments this week especially today," said head coach
Mandy Moore. "We had some good individual rounds and had a great team score going today and just didn't finish well. The conditions got tough on the second nine, but we did a good job of getting off to a good start. I'm proud of Mary Keene and her top 15. I think we gained some confidence this week going into Tennessee."
As a team, the Colonels were the fourth best team on par-fives across 54-holes with an average score of 5.02.
Mary Keene Marrs was EKU's top individual finisher at the tournament in 12
th place at five-over including a one-under, 71 across the final 18 holes.
Marrs ended the tournament tied for the sixth most birdies in the field with 10 total.
Karra Tucker finished tied for 27
th at nine-over for the tournament with her best round being a two-under, 70 in the second round.
Claira Beth Ramsey and
Imogen Jessen finished tied for 37
th at 11-over with both posting their best rounds at two and three-over in the final round respectively.
Dili Sitanonth finished in 58th at 15-over with individual
Maddi-Jo Benton finishing tied for 81
st at 23-over.
The Colonels will now prepare for the Mercedes Benz Intercollegiate in Knoxville, Tenn. beginning on Oct. 20.
