JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Atlantic Sun Conference revealed its women's basketball weekly awards for Dec. 16, EKU's Alice Recanati was named the ASUN Player of the Week and Liz Freihofer was named the ASUN Freshman of the Week.
 
Recanati wins the second ASUN Player of the Week of her career after scoring 20 points on 7-of-10 shooting in a win over Hawai'i Hilo on Wednesday.  The Bergamo, Italy native added six assists and three rebounds to her final line against the Vulcans.
 
On the season, Recanati is first in the conference in assists averaging 4.5 per contest and second on the team in scoring with 12.2 points per outing.  She's scored in double figures in six games this season, her 20 points against UHH was the sixth time in her career with 20 or more points.
 
Entering play on Monday against Indiana State, Recanati is just one rebound shy of becoming one of two players in NCAA DI women's basketball with over 1,200 career points, 500 career assists, 500 career rebounds, and 200 career steals.
 
Freihofer was named the ASUN Freshman of the Week for the second time in the last three weeks and the third conference weekly honor of her career on Monday.  The Union, Kentucky native scored 11 points with a career-high seven rebounds at Hawai'i Hilo.
 
This season, Freihofer is third on the team in scoring averaging 9.6 points per game and has ended in double figures in three of her last four games, two of those game scoring a career-high 17 points.  She's also seventh in the conference in made three-point field goals.
 
EKU returns to action at 2 p.m. ET against Indiana State in the program's MTE event in Downtown Lexington on Monday.  The Colonels will also face Northern Illinois on Tuesday at 6 p.m. to conclude the event.
