EKU Steps Back Into ASUN Play At Bellarmine On Saturday

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – After a non-conference win on Wednesday, the Eastern Kentucky University men's basketball team steps back into Atlantic Sun Conference play on Saturday at Bellarmine University.
 
The game will begin at 7 p.m. ET and air live on ESPN+.  The live radio broadcast of the game is available in the Richmond area on WCYO 100.7 FM, or worldwide on EKUSports.com.
 
THE COLONELS
-  EKU (13-11, 9-2 ASUN) defeated Chicago State, 86-73, in a non-conference game on Wednesday.  The Colonels lead the ASUN by one game over second-place Stetson.
 
-  In his last three games, Isaiah Cozart is shooting 80 percent from the field (24-for-30).  He leads the NCAA in blocks (3.75/game), is third in field goal percentage (64.9), sixth in offensive rebounds (4.00/game), 24th in double-doubles (10) and 25th in rebounding (9.7/game).
 
-  EKU has shot over 50 percent in each of its last three games and six times in 11 ASUN contests.  The Colonels are 95-for-171 in the last three games for 55.6 percent.  EKU shot 60.4 percent against FGCU, 54.2 percent against Stetson and 52.5 percent against Chicago State.
 
-  Turner Buttry has made 23 straight free throws.  The program record is 29 straight by Matt Witt in 2005-06 and Arlando Johnson in 1993-94.
 
SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
-  Bellarmine is 6-20 overall and 2-9 in ASUN games.  Since picking up a 96-95 overtime win at Kennesaw State on Feb. 1, the Knights have lost three straight.   
 
- Bash Wieland, a 6-foot-6 guard, leads the team with an average of 13.7 points per game and is second on the squad with 5.2 rebounds per game.  He has made 51 percent of his shots from the field this season.
 
-  Langdon Hatton, a 6-foot-10 junior forward, is the team's top rebounder at 7.0 boards per game.
 
-  Bellarmine averages the second fewest turnovers per game in the conference at just 9.9.
 
INSIDE THE MATCH-UP
-  Bellarmine is last in the ASUN with an average of 68.35 points per game.  The Knights are 11th in field goal percentage (43.2 percent).  EKU is second in scoring (81.92 ppg) and second in field goal percentage (46.3 percent).
 
-  The Colonels are second in the ASUN in rebound margin (+3.72).  The Knights are last in the conference in rebound margin (-4.04).
 
INSIDE THE SERIES
-  The Colonels lead the series 6-2 and have won two straight over the Knights.  EKU has yet to beat Bellarmine in Louisville (0-2).  The most recent meeting between the two teams was in  Richmond on Jan. 20, an 82-70 victory for the Colonels.
 
-  Trailing by two with 13:44 left in the game in the first meeting this season between the two teams, EKU scored 11 straight to seize control.  Devontae Blanton led all players with 24 points, making 9-of-13 from the field.  Leland Walker had 21 points, finishing 9-for-10 at the free throw line.  Wieland finished with 20 points on 9-of-13 shooting for Bellarmine.  Ben Johnson added 18 points.
