Colonels Have A Chance To Make History Saturday In Final Regular Season Home Game

RICHMOND, Ky. – Eastern Kentucky University will honor five men's basketball seniors before hosting Central Arkansas on Saturday at Baptist Health Arena, the Colonels' final regular season home game.
 
EKU is one win away from capturing at least a share of the 2023-24 Atlantic Sun Conference regular season championship.  It will be the Colonels' first regular season title since 1978-79.
 
The Senior Day ceremony will be held before the game and Red Panda will be performing at halftime.
 
Tip-off is scheduled for 1 p.m. ET live on ESPN+.  The live radio broadcast of the game is available in the Richmond area on WCYO 100.7 FM, or worldwide on EKUSports.com.
 
THE COLONELS
-  After a 75-72 win over North Alabama on Thursday, the Colonels (16-11, 11-2 ASUN) now lead the ASUN by two games over second-place Stetson, with three games left in the regular season.
 
-  Isaiah Cozart finished with 12 points, 15 rebounds, six blocks and one assist against UNA.  It was his 12th double-double of the season and second straight.  With his third block in the game, he broke his own single season program record of 94 blocks.  He now has 98.
 
-  In ASUN games only, EKU is first in 3-point percentage defense (33.8 percent).  The Colonels held the Bears to 31 percent shooting from deep.
 
-  Leland Walker made a career-high 10 free throws against North Alabama and finished with 24 points.
 
SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
-  Central Arkansas is 9-21 overall and 5-9 in ASUN games.  The Bears have lost three straight and six of their last seven.  UCA lost at Bellarmine, 68-65, on Thursday.   
 
- Tucker Anderson, a 6-foot-9 freshman forward, leads the team in scoring (14.2 ppg) and is second on the squad in rebounding (3.8 rpg).  He scored 24 of the team's 65 points at Bellarmine.
 
-  Elias Cato, a 6-foot-9 junior guard/forward, leads UCA with 6.1 rebounds per game and is second in scoring (11.2 ppg).
 
-  Central Arkansas allows the third most points per game in the conference at 77.50.
 
INSIDE THE MATCH-UP
-  Central Arkansas is last in the ASUN in field goal percentage (41.3 percent).  EKU is second in the league (46.2 percent).
 
-  The Colonels have out-rebounded their opponents by 3.7 boards per game this season.  The Bears get out-rebounded by 0.6 per game.
 
INSIDE THE SERIES
-  The Colonels are 3-2 against Central Arkansas, with all five meetings coming since EKU joined the ASUN in 2021-22.  The Colonels have won three straight over the Bears, including an 86-63 victory in Conway on Jan. 11, 2024.
 
-  Cozart recorded a double-double and Michael Moreno hit six 3-pointers as EKU rolled to a win earlier this season.  Cozart finished with 17 points and 10 rebounds.  Moreno went 6-of-9 from deep on his way to 20 points.  The Colonels' largest lead of the game of 25 came with 1:03 left in the game when Collin Cooper hit the second of two straight 3-pointers.  EKU shot 50 percent from the field for the game and 43 percent from behind the arc (13-for-30).  The Colonels out-rebounded the Bears by 13, 43-30.  Anderson and Cato scored 15 points each for UCA.
