Women’s Basketball Begins 2024 Atlantic Sun Conference Championship in Nashville

Will Face Lipscomb in Quarterfinals on Saturday

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The No. 5 seeded Eastern Kentucky University women's basketball team begins its March Madness chase in Nashville on Saturday facing No. 4 Lipscomb inside Allen Arena.
 
Saturday's game is scheduled to tip at 5 p.m. EST and streamed live on ESPN+ or 92.5 WEKY.  Fans looking to make the trip to the Music City can find tickets for $15 in general admission seating online here.  
 
Riding a historic regular season, EKU (21-10, 9-7) is primed for its third straight Atlantic Sun Conference Championship in as many years as a member institution in the league.  EKU has advanced to the quarterfinals in two of three tournaments.
 
In the regular season, the Colonels recorded 20 wins for the first time since 2005 while going 8-1 through the first nine games of the season, the best start to a season since 1975.
 
Individually, Antwainette Walker was named First Team All-ASUN for the second straight season after averaging 18.1 points per game, leading EKU and second in the conference.
 
Additionally, Alice Recanati was named Third Team All-ASUN for the first time in her career after leading the ASUN Conference in assists (137) and assists per game (4.4).
 
Both Recanati and Walker joined the program's 1,000-point club, becoming the 25th and 26th members, respectively.

EKU Notes & Statistics
- EKU is seeking its first semifinal appearance as a member of the ASUN Conference.
- EKU sports a 1-2 overall record in the ASUN Championship, last win coming in 2022 over Kennesaw State at home.
- The Colonels are second in the league in scoring (71.4), only two points behind FGCU.
- With Recanati and Walker receiving ASUN postseason awards, four different Colonel student-athletes have combined for eight awards in the last three seasons.
 
All-Time vs. Lipscomb
- Saturday's game is the 9th meeting between EKU and Lipscomb, the Colonels own the series record 5-3.
- Despite EKU leading the all-time series, Lipscomb has won the last three meetings in the series, including both games this 2023-24 season.
