LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The Eastern Kentucky University women's basketball team will face the University of Louisville on December 17 at the KFC Yum! Center, the program announced Tuesday.
Tipoff time, ticket information, and TV details will be announced in the coming weeks.
This will be EKU's first trip to Louisville since the 2021-22 season and the 35th meeting between the in-state programs since 1972. The Cardinals lead the all-time series 21-13 and have not lost to the Colonels since 1990.
Louisville went 22-11 last season under 19th-year head coach Jeff Walz. The Cardinals have reached the NCAA Tournament every year since 2011, advancing to the Elite Eight in five of the past seven seasons. They are projected to open the 2025-26 campaign ranked in the top 25 and return All-ACC guard Tajianna Roberts, who averaged 12.8 points per game in 33 starts last season.
EKU is coming off back-to-back 20-win seasons for the first time since 2001-02, as well as consecutive appearances in the conference tournament semifinals for the first time in eight years. Three Colonels earned all-conference honors last season, including a unanimous pick to the all-freshman team. Since 2022, EKU's 61 victories are the second most among NCAA Division I programs in Kentucky, trailing only Louisville.
The December matchup will feature eight Kentucky natives between the two rosters.
