RICHMOND, Ky. – EKU right-handed pitcher
Jack Waters will play for Team Australia in the 2024 Under-23 Baseball World Cup in China.

The 12-team competition will be played Sept. 6-15.

Team Australia will consist of 24 players. The team finished sixth in the 2022 Under-23 World Cup. This is the second time Waters has been selected to play for Team Australia in the event, having made two appearances in 2022. He went 1-0 and did not allow a run in eight innings.

Waters played his first season at EKU this past spring. The Gold Coast native appeared in 13 games and made four starts, finishing 0-0 with a 6.33 ERA. He struck out 29 in 27 innings of work.

Before joining the EKU program, Waters played two seasons at Arizona Western College.

Waters is one of nine Team Australia players who played in the 2022 event and one of six players on the team with NCAA Division I experience. The squad also includes two players who competed in the World Baseball Classic and seven who have played minor league baseball in the United States.

Team Australia will begin play on Sept. 6 against Colombia. The squad will face Puerto Rico on Sept. 7, Japan on Sept. 8, Great Britain on Sept. 9 and China on Sept. 10. The Super Round is scheduled for Sept. 12-14 with the Medal Games to be played on Sept. 15.
