SIMPSONVILLE, Ky. – The Eastern Kentucky University women's golf team finished the Cardinal Cup on Sunday afternoon at the University of Louisville Golf Club in 10
th place for the tournament as a team.
EKU shot a combined 922 (+58) for the tournament with freshman
Karra Tucker turning in the best individual performance finishing tied for 30
th shooting 227 (+11) over the three rounds.
"We're making progress to where we want to be but just had too many big numbers," said head coach
Mandy Moore. "Claira Beth had a good second round, Karra had a good final round and Imogen had a great finish today to help us maintain our position. We are looking forward to a few days to work on some things to get ready for Missouri next week."
In just the second tournament of her Colonel career, Tucker carded a final round 72 (E) , with birdies on the 13
th and 17
th hole.
Fellow freshman
Imogen Jessen finished the tournament tied for 35
th finishing with 229 strokes (+13) with back-to-back four-over rounds to close out the tournament.
Claira Beth Ramsey finished tied for 46
th at 16-over for the tournament, with her best round coming on day two of the tournament as she shot a 73 (+1) with two birdies, and 14 pars.
Dili Sitanonth and
Mary Keene Marrs rounded out the EKU scores finishing tied for 60
th and 64
th respectively, shooting 19 and 21-over for the tournament.
The Colonels will now prepare for the Johnie Imes Invitational hosted by Missouri at The Club at Old Hawthorne beginning on Sept. 23.
