The Colonels
EKU will look to bounce back at home after falling to Southern Utah, 27-17, last week, giving up 10 unanswered points in the second half.
The Colonels will look for more from quarterback Myles Burkett and wide receiver Marcus Calwise Jr., who have combined for six touchdowns over the last two games.
Turnovers will once again be pivotal in the Colonels’ success on defense, with the Maroon Doom defense creating 17 turnovers on the season, the 12th most in all of FCS, with a positive four-turnover margin, the 25th best in the country.
Saturday will also mark the fourth time EKU has faced a ranked opponent this season, where the team has gone 1-2 thus far.
Under head coach Walt Wells, EKU is 7-7 against ranked opponents in the regular season.
Scouting the Wildcats
Saturday’s matchup will be pivotal for ACU as a win will keep them in at least a tie for first place in the UAC with rival Tarleton State, who the Wildcats beat earlier this season, 31-28 on a last-second field goal.
ACU comes to Richmond after dismantling Utah Tech in Texas, 31-10.
The Wildcats’ defense has also been a ball-hawking unit, forcing 18 turnovers this year with a plus-five turnover margin, a stark improvement from 2024 when they finished the season at negative-eight.
Against the Trailblazers last week, ACU had four interceptions, two of which were returned to the end zone for the team’s first 14 points.
ACU’s offense is powered by sixth-year senior quarterback Stone Earle, who has accounted for 256.9 yards of total offense per game while throwing 16 touchdowns and rushing for seven, accounting for the second-most points in the UAC this season.
On the season, Earle has thrown for 2,235 yards, the second most in the conference.
