RICHMOND, Ky. – The Eastern Kentucky University women's basketball team returns home from a long road trip to host Midway University on Saturday night at Baptist Health Arena.
Tipoff is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. ET, following the men's game.
Tickets start at $5 and can be purchased online or at the door. Fans who bring canned food items for the SAAC Food Drive will receive free admission.
The game will stream live on ESPN+ and air on the Colonels All-Access page.
EKU (4-1) enters the match up on a three-game winning streak, including a rare home-and-home series against North Dakota. The Colonels beat the Fighting Hawks 56-47 at home last Sunday before earning an 87-66 road win Tuesday in Grand Forks.
Sophomore guard
Liz Freihofer continues her strong start, leading EKU with 13.6 points per game and scoring in double figures in all five contests. As of Friday, the Union, Kentucky, native ranks top 15 in the NCAA and first in the Atlantic Sun Conference in made 3-pointers (17) and 3-pointers per game (3.4).
EKU has also received big production from its front court. Junior forward
Kailani Lindsey has totaled 33 points and 10 rebounds over the past two games, shooting 58 percent (13-for-26) from the floor.
Senior forward
Joseana Vaz has scored in double figures in three of her last four outings, narrowly missing double-doubles with 12 points and nine rebounds against SIUE and 16 points and seven boards at North Dakota. She is second on the team in scoring and leads the Colonels with 7.0 rebounds per game.
EKU will also look to extend its long winning streak against non-Division I opponents. The Colonels have won 32 straight games against non-DI competition and are 13-0 in those match ups under head coach
Greg Todd.
During the Todd era, EKU has outscored non-DI teams by a combined 592 points (1,192–600) and has reached the 100-point mark four times. Four of those wins have come by 55 points or more.
Scouting Midway
Midway (5-1) is off to a strong start under third-year head coach Kylee Gorby. The Eagles are averaging 92 points per game and have scored 95 or more in three straight wins over Bluefield University, Alice Lloyd College, and Union Commonwealth.
Freshman guard Alexys Moore leads Midway with 15.7 points per game and 14 made 3-pointers. The Tellico Plains, Tennessee, native has reached double figures in all six games this season, highlighted by a 25-point performance against Alice Lloyd on November 15.
Series History
Saturday marks the second meeting between EKU and Midway. The Colonels won the only previous match up, 88-57, during the 2022-23 season in Richmond.
