St. Augustine, Fla. – The Eastern Kentucky University men's golf team concluded its second tournament of the spring on Tuesday at the World Golf Village Collegiate, finishing 8
th out of 16 teams.
The originally, 54-hole tournament was cut short due to inclement weather as the Colonels shot a combined 610 (+34) as a team through the two rounds of competition.
EKU saw an eight-shot improvement in the second round posting a team score of 301 (+13).
The Colonels were the best in the tournament on par-3s with a scoring average of 3.27.
Connor Gdovin was the highest individual finisher, tied for 21
st, for the Colonels shooting a score of 151 (+7) through 36 holes with an impressive second round 73 (+1) that featured three birdies.
One shot behind Gdovin was
Isaac Meador at 152 (+8) for the tournament after carding consecutive rounds of 76 strokes.
Anders Larson finished tied for 29
th with 153 strokes (+9) as
Zach Watterson finished two strokes off Larson at 155 (+11) finishing tied for 44
th.
Rounding out the team performance was
Jackson Finney who finished tied for 62
nd with 158 strokes (+14).
Competing as an individual,
Carl Space finished tied for 44
th. After a difficult first round, Space bounced back with a strong 73 (+1) in the second round with two birdies and 13 pars.
Fellow individual
Gehrig Sexton finished in 92
nd position at +21 for the tournament.
The Colonels return to action on March 9 at historic Bandon Trails in Bandon, Ore. for the Bandon Dunes Championship hosted by Idaho.
