KENNESAW, Ga. – The Eastern Kentucky University women's golf team had two top-25 finishers at the Pinetree Women's Collegiate in Kennesaw, Georgia on Tuesday as
Dili Sitanonth and
Mary Keene Marrs finished tied for 23
rd individually.
As a team, the Colonels finished in 11
th place at 57-over after 53 holes of competition.
Sitanonth finished the tournament strong, carding a second round 71 (E) and final-round 73 (+2) to move up 21 spots on the final day to finish at 12-over in a tie for 23
rd with Marrs and two others.
Par-5s is where Sitanonth made up the most ground on the field with a scoring average of 4.83 throughout the tournament, the sixth-best of those competing.
Competing as an individual, Marrs saved her best round for last with a final round 74 (+3) on Tuesday to move up 16 places herself to tie with Sitanonth.
A picture of consistency, Marrs recorded 36 pars at the tournament, tying for the second-most in the field of 70 individual players.
Four shots back of the leading duo were freshmen
Karra Tucker and
Imogen Jessen who finished tied for 42
nd at 16-over.
Both freshmen's best rounds of the tournament came in the second round with Jessen putting together an even-par 72 that featured five birdies and an eagle on the par-5, 486-yard seventh hole.
In that same round, Tucker shot two-over with two birdies in that round.
For the tournament, Tucker was the 11
th-best player on par-5s with a scoring average of 4.92 on those holes.
Elizabeth Tucci and
Claira Beth Ramsey rounded out the scoring for EKU in 49
th and 65
th place respectively shooting 18 and 28-over.
The Colonels return home for their final tournament of the regular season and their lone home tournament in The Colonel Classic beginning on April 7.
