EKU Baseball To Host UK On Tuesday, Play In Lexington On Wednesday

RICHMOND, Ky. – Eastern Kentucky University's baseball team will play its first home game of the 2025 season on Tuesday against Kentucky at Earle Combs Stadium.
 
The two teams will play again on Wednesday in Lexington at Kentucky Proud Park.
 
Tuesday's game will begin at 6 p.m. and air live on ESPN+.  Wednesday's contest is scheduled for 4 p.m. and will air on the SEC Network+.
 
THE COLONELS
-  EKU (0-11) is still searching for its first win of the season after suffering a 3-game sweep at West Georgia.
 
-  In the three games against UWG, freshman AJ Groeneveld hit .556 with three runs and three RBIs.
 
-  Nazir Mendez hit his first Division I home run in the first game of the doubleheader on Saturday.  He also had a 2-run double to go along with his solo shot.

-  Wyatt Foley has made three appearances out of the bullpen and has pitched to a 3.18 ERA over 11 1/3 innings of work.  He has walked two and struck out nine.
 
-  Junior Nathan Lawson will get the start in Tuesday's game.  The right-hander is 0-0 with a 4.15 ERA across four appearances this season.  He has struck out nine in 8 2/3 innings.  The starter for Wednesday's game has not been determined.
 
SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
-  No. 23 ranked Kentucky is 8-1 this season and has won seven straight.  The Wildcats are coming off a 3-game sweep of Hofstra at home over the weekend.
 
-  Cole Hage leads the team with a .571 batting average and 14 runs scored.  He has a .692 on-base percentage.  Carson Hansen is batting .429 with a team-best three home runs and 10 RBIs.
 
-  Jackson Nove has made three appearances out of the bullpen without allowing a run.  He has struck out 16 and allowed only two hits in seven innings.
 
-  Nate Harris is scheduled to start on the mound for Kentucky on Tuesday.  The freshman righty is 1-0 with a 4.50 ERA.  He has made one appearance and one start this season, allowing two runs on three hits in four innings.  Wednesday's starter has not been determined.
 
INSIDE THE SERIES
-  The Wildcats have a 72-25-1 advantage in the series.  UK is 26-12-1 in games played in Richmond and 46-13 in games played in Lexington.
 
-  The two teams met twice last year with Kentucky winning both games.  In the most recent contest, EKU held the No. 25th ranked Wildcats hitless through seven innings but couldn't hold off a late UK comeback in a 5-2 loss at Earle Combs Stadium in Richmond.
