EKU (20-11, 10-8 ASUN) secured consecutive 20-win seasons for the first time in over 23 years with an 83-76 win over Lipscomb on Senior Day. The win moved the Colonels up to the No. 4 seed in the ASUN Tournament—marking the second time in the team's four years of ASUN membership hosting a postseason game.
On March 6, three Colonels were named to the ASUN Conference's postseason awards. Fifth year
Alice Recanati was named Second Team All-ASUN,
Kaitlyn Costner was named Third Team All-ASUN, and
Liz Freihofer was unanimously selected to the ASUN All-Freshman Team. All three will be available for Saturday's game against Stetson.
Against Lipscomb, six EKU players ended in double figures for just the second time this season. Freihofer led the way with 18 points behind four threes. Recanati added 14 points to the final line, her 79th game in double figure scoring. Additionally, upperclassmen forwards
Raphaela Toussaint scored 14 and
Jasmine McGinnis-Taylor added 13.
With a win on Saturday over Stetson, EKU would advance to the ASUN Semifinals in consecutive seasons and likely face No. 1 seed FGCU in Fort Myers. A loss would bounce the Colonels out of the field and await results from around the country for any national postseason tournament invitations.
