Colonels’ Women’s Team Finishes Third at ASUN Outdoor Championships

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Eastern Kentucky University women's track & field team finished third at the ASUN Outdoor Conference Championships with 97 points on Saturday, the best finish in the ASUN in program history.
 
The evening was highlighted by Edna Chelulei breaking an ASUN Conference record that stood for 21 years in the women's 5,000m with a time of 16:17.73 to take the gold.
 
On the men's side, the EKU men's team finished in fifth with 83 team points.
 
Also taking a medal in the women's 5,000m was Vicody Chepngetich, making it a 1-2 finish for EKU, finishing in second with a time of 16:45.14.
 
In the men's 5,000m, Kristian Imroth earned the silver medal in a time of 14:30.9 while Mario Priego finished in third with a time of 14:30.49.
 
Also earning silver was Bahiya El Arfaoui in the women's 800m with a time of 2:01.00, a new school record.
 
Aniol Borras took bronze in the men's 800m with a time of 1:49.25, the fifth fastest time in program history.
 
Mallory Hodge had an impressive evening with a bronze medal in the women's 200m dash in a time of 23.73 seconds, and the 4th fastest time in program history in the 100m dash, running it in 11.69 seconds, finishing in 5th.
 
In the field, Lariah Wooden took silver in the women's shot put, throwing 13. 74m (45' 1") to claim second place.
 
While Karin Gosek took fourth in the women's 1,500m in a personal best time of 4.29.57 while Taha Er Raouy took fourth for the men in 3:42.74, followed by Jan Badia earning points in seventh at 3:48.05.
 
Kyle Maruca earned points for the men's team in the field with a personal best,47.8m throw in the discus, while Cooper Brummett finished in seventh with a throw of 43.99m
(144' 4")
 
 Austin Miller took sixth place in the men's triple jump, jumping 13.60m (44' 7½").
 
The Colonels will now wait for regional qualifying marks to come out to see who will compete at the NCAA East Regional in Jacksonville beginning on May. 28.
