CARROLLTON, Ga. – The Atlantic Sun Conference leading Eastern Kentucky University women's basketball team hits the road this week for a pivotal two-game swing, traveling south to face West Georgia and Queens.
EKU will square off with second-place West Georgia on Thursday at 7 p.m. ET in the ASUN Conference Game of the Week before continuing to Charlotte, North Carolina, to face Queens on Saturday at 2 p.m. ET.
Both contests will be streamed live on ESPN+ and heard for free on Colonel All-Access and @EKUWBB on X, with EKU Sports Network's Wes Chandler courtside on the call.
EKU (17-4, 8-0 ASUN) enters the week off to the best start to conference play in program history after home victories over Jacksonville (82-63) and North Florida (88-54) last week.
The Colonels carry multiple streaks into the trip, including a 10-game overall winning streak dating back to Dec. 19, 2025, a 10-game home winning streak in true home games at Baptist Health Arena, and a four-game road winning streak.
With wins over West Georgia and Queens, EKU would extend its current run to 12 games, tying for the second-longest winning streak in program history and moving within three games of the school record.
Freshman guard
Kenleigh Woods enters week five of conference play after sweeping the ASUN weekly awards, earning Player of the Week, Newcomer of the Week, and Freshman of the Week honors. Woods averaged 20.0 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 5.5 assists while shooting 62.5 percent (15-of-24) from the floor in wins over Jacksonville and North Florida.
Woods is the only ASUN player this season to claim all three weekly honors in the same week and the first league player to do so since EKU sophomore
Liz Freihofer accomplished the feat last season.
Freihofer continues her strong campaign, averaging 13.6 points per game with a team-high 49 made 3-pointers while scoring in double figures in 19 of EKU's 21 games.
The Colonels remain fully healthy and continue to receive consistent production from seniors
Joseana Vaz (12.6 ppg, 7.1 rpg),
Althea Kara Angeles (9.5 ppg, 4.1 rpg, 4.1 apg), and
Ndidiamaka Ndukwe (11.9 ppg), who has scored in double figures in 10 consecutive games with three 20-point performances during that stretch.
On the national stage, EKU recently climbed to a program-best No. 108 in the NCAA NET rankings and enters the week receiving 16 votes in the CollegeInsider.com Women's Mid-Major Top 25 poll, marking the team's 16th appearance of the
Greg Todd era.
Statistically, the Colonels rank among the nation's best, sitting inside the NCAA top 100 in 19 of 26 tracked categories, including 3-point percentage defense (4th, 24.2), defensive rebounds per game (15th, 29.5), 3-pointers made per game (28th, 8.6), assist-to-turnover ratio (34th, 1.18), scoring offense (41st, 76.5), and scoring margin (42nd, +16.5).
Scouting West Georgia
West Georgia (13-6, 6-2 ASUN) enters the week second in the league standings and undefeated at home this season with an 11-0 record. Despite only scoring three points in a 69-53 loss to EKU on New Year's Day in Richmond, the Wolves are led by senior forward Jasmine Jones, who averages 15.2 points per game.
Scouting Queens
Queens (7-12, 1-7 ASUN) hosts Bellarmine on Thursday, a game between the last two teams in the ASUN standings, before welcoming EKU on Saturday. The Colonels defeated the Royals 103-49 on Jan. 3 in Richmond, the largest margin of victory over a conference opponent in program history.
